Pipes & Drums


ALL EVENTS ARE SANCTIONED AND CONDUCTED UNDER THE RULES OF THE EASTERN UNITED STATES PIPE BAND ASSOCIATION (EUSPBA).

Solo piping competitions are held for Amateurs in Grades V through I and for Professionals in the Open Grade.
Individual drumming competitions are held for snare, tenor and bass drummers. As in the case for pipers, drumming events are sanctioned and conducted by Grade.

​Registration is closed for the 2022 Celtic Festival.  
Pipe Band Grades III, IV, and V Entry Fees:    $185

Must provide a roster of competitors' names to Helen Harlow at Harlow59@msn.com in order to receive Band Competitor tickets.

Individual Piping:  Professional - $35
                               Amateur - $25
Individual Piping events:
​1. MSR (one event) - Grade I and Professional
2. 6/8 March - Grade I and Professional
3. Hornpipe and Jig - Grade I and Professional
4. Piobaireachd – IV, III, II, I and Professional
5. 2/4 March – Grades II, III, IV Sr/Jr, V
6. Strathspey and Reel – Grade II, III
7. Ground Piobaireachd - Grade 5
8. Practice Chanter

Rules, Procedures, and Information
1.  Registration for all Band and Individual Piping/Drumming must be submitted online by April 9, 2022.
2.  All Competitor entry fees must be purchased online.
3.  Competition Band registration is through Ticketleap - 1 ticket will be produced at the time of registration. 
4.  Additional Competition Band tickets will be sent electronically once the Band roster is submit to Helen Harlow at Harlow59@msn.com 
5.  Tickets are printable via Ticketleap.  Your competitor entry ticket is your Festival entry ticket.
6.  All competitors, except for PC, must wear suitable Highland attire.
7.  Competitions start at 9:00 am.
8.  Band representatives meeting will be held at 10:00 am at the main registration tent on the field.
9.  A travel allowance for Bands will be paid based on mileage. To receive the travel allowance, Bands must compete and participate in all massed bands and submit a IRS W-9 form.  IRS W-9 form can found here: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw9.pdf  and must be completed and submitted to Helen Harlow at Harlow59@msn.com
10.  Medals will be awarded in Individual Piping and Drumming events. Cash prizes will be awarded in all Professional events.
11.   Bands will receive trophies for 1st place plus cash prizes for 1st place through 3rd place.
12.  EUSPBA rules will apply. Decisions by Judges, Stewards and the Piping and Drumming Committee are final.
13.  CSSM reserves the right to cancel any event for which insufficient entries are received.
14.  Acknowledgement e-mails will be sent prior to the event.  Competitions are held on Saturday.
