Annual Robert Burns Dinner Category: Celtic Society News and Events Posted at January 25, 2012
The Celtic Society of Southern Maryland (CSSM) is celebrating its 16th Annual Robert Burns Night on Saturday, February 4th 2012, at the Hilton Garden Inn Solomons. This celebration offers a formal evening affair for those who love history, Celtic tradition and Robert Burns, the man and poet. Today Burns Suppers have become a world-wide phenomenon, being celebrated in such surprising places as Japan and India as well as anywhere else you’d expect to find lovers of Scotland and its culture. The basic format for the evening has remained unchanged. Wear your kilt, or favorite formal attire in the Celtic spirit to enjoy creative toasts to the Queen, the President, the lads, and lassies, an ode to the haggis, fiddles, bagpipes, dancing, sangs and clatter. Retire after dinner to the cozy heated gentlemens den for a smoke (ladies are certainly welcome, too).
