Clans & Organizations
Organization participation is open to those organized groups who demonstrate a Celtic orientation/connection, without being political or supporting activities anathema to the Celtic Society of Southern Maryland, Inc. The Celtic Society has been called “pan-tribal,” and so too is our Festival. Thus, reaching back into history, we recognize that the Celtic “national” legacy encompasses most of the countries comprising Western Europe: from Ireland and the British and Orkney Isles to Western Turkey, from Spain to Switzerland , from Southern Germany to Northern Italy .
So we are open to all those who claim that heritage and seek to celebrate that part of their past. Currently, the Festival has between 40 and 50 groups that participate (it varies).
If your cultural or historical organization, clan, family group, etc. wishes to participate, please send the following information to our Clans Steward:
- Organization Name
- Contact Individual
- E-Mail address
- Postal Address
- Telephone Number
- Something about yourselves
Generally, an initial e-mailing to organizations is done shortly after the new year. It consists of an application with costs, map, a listing of planned events, and any other material deemed relevant. While payment is due with the application's submission, that does not guarantee acceptance and participation. Please note that the Celtic Festival and Society are strictly non-political, and any groups not complying with the policies of the Society and Festival may be asked to leave the Festival, and fees are non-refundable.
There is a Celtic Cup award for the best organization presentation (which includes the participants), a “thank you” for those without whom we wouldn't have a reason to have a Festival.
